Auburn Tigers basketball coach Bruce Pearl has been suspended for two games by the NCAA. Pearl was suspended for his role in a scandal that eventually necessitated an investigation by the FBI. Former Auburn Associate Head Coach Chuck Person also received a 10-year show cause.

Pearl and Auburn have been punished for NCAA recruitment violations. These findings were tied to the 2017 FBI probe that implicated several schools. Auburn’s main violation involved bribes paid to Person, the assistant coach.
Auburn was not given any sort of postseason ban, but was given a $5,000 fine and had their basketball budget cut by three percent. The university did, however, self-impose punishments such as reductions in scholarships.
