Pokemon Champions is the latest battling-focused game coming to fans this year, with tons of hype surrounding its release. But, with all of the hype, will this new game actually be what fans are hoping for?
One of the best parts about Pokemon Champions is your ability to battle with all of your favorite Pokemon across different games. However, wouldn’t it be even better if you could also feature them in minigames and other quirky modes? This is so much of what Pokemon Stadium got right and is something that we would love to see in Pokemon Champions, even if the focus of the game is its battles. This could give it that extra depth and appeal to players who want a bit more than just battling.

It is very likely that Pokemon Champions will not have a complete Pokemon roster, instead pulling Pokemon from each generation at some level. This should be somewhat expected considering the sheer number of Pokemon in the franchise at this point, but is also something that some fans will have more of a problem with than others. Personally, this seems like something that I can accept… as long as my favorite Pokemon is included, of course. However, at the end of the day, this is something that can always get patched or added throughout the game’s lifespan.
We have not gotten confirmation that Pokemon Champions will have PvE, but if it does, we hope it is entertaining and has substantial content. One of our biggest fears is that this game will not feature any way to play as a solo player, which would be very concerning and greatly affect our perception of what this title is meant to be.
A gym progression system, an elite four, or something in between would be all that this game would need to give fans something to do with their Pokemon in a challenging way that doesn’t require another player.
Lastly, Pokemon Champions has the opportunity to set a new standard for turn-based battling in the Pokemon franchise, especially considering the changes that are coming in the new Pokemon Legends Z-A game. So much of the beauty of Pokemon Stadium was in its quirkiness and unique flair, which this game should consider implementing in some form as well.
All in all, we have a lot of hopes and dreams for Pokemon champions but we won’t know exactly what this game is until we get more details. for that and much more Pokémon content, be sure to stay tuned here at The Game Haus and on our YouTube channel, Pokemon Haus!
