The Call of Duty League and Adderall

Chaz KawamuraBy Chaz KawamuraJune 15, 2021Updated:June 15, 20213 Mins Read

This Call of Duty League season has been a season filled with major highs and lows. Major highs after rookies such as Eli “Standy” Bentz and Jamie “Insight” Craven entered the league in a flash looking like future superstars. However, with the major highs within the Call of Duty League, there has also been major lows as well such as what was announced recently with Cuyler “Huke” Garland talking about how he abused Adderall last season, specifically during the last World Championship in which his team, the Dallas Empire, won.

The League has been very steady and quiet when it comes to this issue as a whole. This being based on the recent The Flank Podcast, made by Thomas “ZooMaa” Paparatto. This was after higher-ups from Activision contacted the podcast creators to not talk about this recent news as it is a “touchy subject”. It was also heard within the stream where Ben, the co-anchor of the podcast, was being told by his senior saying that Johanna Faries, the SVP and GM for Call of Duty, was very upset about what they were about to talk about.

Immediately after ZooMaa was told to not talk about it. He decided to take a stand and put it on himself to take a stand saying how wrong it is while also even admitting to doing Adderall himself early on in his career.

“There were times when I was on it, there were times where I wasn’t on it, it was very back and forth. But I have prescribed Adderall when I was just a little kid. I have always had it,” said ZooMaa.

The Adderall Problem in the Call of Duty League

Adderall has been a major problem within the Call of Duty League, as shortly after, many players admitted to being on this specific substance during past seasons. Players such as Trei “Zer0” Morris, and Chance “Maux” Moncivaez admitted to using Adderall.

Even though this has been a recurring issue within the league, the Call of Duty League itself has been very silent when it comes to addressing it. This, in turn, leads players in and outside of the league to weigh in on what they think about the situation. Players and legends such as Patrick “Aches” Price weighed in on the issues as he was a part of the podcast that aired right after Huke’s announcement.

“I feel like now they HAVE to act, in some capacity. And if they don’t what? It’s just fair game for everyone to do so and by their inaction, they’re essentially allowing it?,” said Aches. It’s absolutely been a widespread issue for a LONG TIME, and many people thought that with the CDL, it was gonna be the end of Adderall, and it’s only been the opposite.”

Need for Change

With all this widespread Adderall usage within the leagues, many players believe that it should be banned from the league unless for a medical reason such as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) which ZooMaa has, which is why he used Adderall so heavily.

Will the league address it to where it is banned, or will players be able to freely use it within the league? One thing is for sure, if there is not addressing this issue, it could mean the beginning of the end for integrity within the league.
