Call of Duty League Stage Five sets the groups with the Atlanta FaZe looking to win their group after a successful Stage Four. The Toronto Ultra look to win their group, but will face tough competition with the Dallas Empire and Minnesota Rokkr in their group. With LAN returning for all of Stage Five, the Seattle Surge look to build off their wins from the Stage Four Major.
Atlanta FaZe Look to Sweep Stage Five after Winning Stage Four Major
The Atlanta FaZe ended Stage Four with a win over the Dallas Empire to win the Stage Four Major. In the first LAN event of the season, they won all three matches, while only being down in the final. With the win in the major, FaZe secured first seed in the playoffs.
Heading into Call of Duty League Stage Five, the Atlanta FaZe can continue winning after showing they can play on any map. In the Stage Four Major, they lost on Moscow both times but bounced back on Apocalypse. Throughout the regular season, Atlanta FaZe is at a 71 percent win rate on games, while the second-best is only at 58 percent. This combined with only losing four matches shows that Atlanta FaZe will be hard to stop in Stage Five.
Another shining spot of this talented Atlanta FaZe team is McArthur “Cellium” Jovel. In Stage Four, Cellium is the “Player of the Stage” boasting an impressive 1.18 overall K/D. His teammates allowed Cellium to thrive this Stage according to him.
“Obviously I was playing good, but I have to give credit to my teammates,” Cellium said in a post-game interview. “I think they were setting me up to be in the position I am in right now. I just played good and all of them were just playing good as well.”
The Atlanta FaZe kick off the New York Subliners Home Series against the London Royal Ravens on July 8 at 3:00 PM ET.
Toronto Ultra Aim to Win in Tough Group Stage
The Toronto Ultra can prove themselves again in Stage Five as they face a tough group. The Dallas Empire and Minnesota Rokkr are in their group and can be quite the challenge. Each match the Toronto Ultra had against the Dallas Empire was close, but they ultimately lost against them in the Stage Four Major. The Minnesota Rokkr have been consistent in the regular season and can play with the best.
Heading into Stage Five, the Toronto Ultra can solidify themselves as a top-five team. After struggling in the first two stages, they won one major and topped two groups. Ending up at the top of Stage Five will show that the Toronto Ultra are one of the best teams in the league. However, they will need to avoid a slow start like they had in Stage Four in order to stay ahead of the competition.
If they win group B, they can play the Atlanta FaZe for the third major in a row. Each match against the Atlanta FaZe has been close, and the Toronto Ultra look to beat them en route to their second major win of the season. As long as the Toronto Ultra do not place in the losers bracket, then this stage will show they are not a team to be messed with going into the future.
The Toronto Ultra play the Minnesota Rokkr on July 11 at 4:30 PM ET.
Seattle Surge Can Build Off Their Wins in Stage Five
The Seattle Surge won twice in the Stage Four Major after snapping a 10 match losing streak earlier this stage. After winning the first two matches, they could not upset OpTic Chicago again to continue in the major. Seeing the return to LAN could bring the Seattle Surge much closer to competing with the rest.
In Stage Five Group B, the Seattle Surge have a chance to come out with a few wins. Although they are at the bottom, the Florida Mutineers and the Los Angeles Guerillas are in their group. The Seattle Surge won previously against the Florida Mutineers, although it might prove more difficult this time around. The Florida Mutineers have been performing better since the last time they have faced the Seattle Surge. On the other hand, the Los Angeles Guerillas have been struggling. They have only won one game in the last two stages, although they won one match in the Stage Four Major before losing again.
One struggle they will have is facing the Dallas Empire and Toronto Ultra, as they are in the top three in the regular-season standings. However, this stage might allow the Seattle Surge to secure a spot in the middle of their group.
The Seattle Surge begin Call of Duty League Stage Five against the Florida Mutineers on Jul 10 at 4:30PM ET.
