Rise of Kingdoms PC gameplay involves you becoming a great world leader. Through your tribe, you will conquer the world and carve your own history.
To start the game, you will pick and lead one out of 13 powerful civilizations. You can then transform your tribe into a force that is to be reckoned with. Ultimately, your decisions and strategies as well as the partnerships and allies you take on will influence your fate.

During the game, you will call on historical figures such as Julius Caesar and Joan of Arc to serve as your commanders. You will level up your commanders as a result of defeating the barbarians and sending them to battle. After this, you will upgrade your commander's abilities with a talent tree.
All the battles that happen on the map are in real time. This means that absolutely anyone can either join or leave whenever they want. As such, if you see someone being attacked, you can send troops in to help or set up a counterattack. Beware, there will be natural obstructions including mountains and rivers.
