Billy Kennedy Will not Return to Texas A&M

Texas A&M head basketball coach Billy Kennedy reportedly will not return to the team next season as first reported by the Houston Chronicle’s Brent Zwerneman.

It is still unclear if this was Texas A&M’s decision, Kennedy’s or a mutual parting.

Kennedy, 55, has been the coach of the Aggies for eight seasons. Before that, he had stops at Murray State, Southeastern Louisiana and Centenary. He has a career record of 361-294 and has made four NCAA Tournaments. Kennedy led the Aggies to the Sweet 16 twice, once in 2016 and once last season.

This season Texas A&M has struggled with a 13-17 record. Kennedy will coach the team throughout the rest of the season. The Aggies play Vanderbilt in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday.

Buzz Williams is among the rumored candidates to get the job.
