Atlanta Braves Sign Josh Donaldson and Brian McCann

The Atlanta Braves mad a pair of moves on Tuesday by signing third baseman Josh Donaldson and catcher Brian McCann according to Ken Rosenthal.

Donaldson, the 2015 MVP, has signed a one-year deal worth $23 million. He has spent four seasons in Oakland to start his career, then three and half seasons with Toronto before being traded to Cleveland before the trade deadline last season.

He has hit .275 with 182 home runs and 551 RBIs in his career. Last season, Donaldson hit .246 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs, but was only able to play in 52 games due to a strained calf muscle.

McCann rejoins the Braves on a one-year $2 million deal. He spent the first nine seasons of his career in Atlanta before going to the Yankees then the Astros.

In his career, he has hit .263 with 270 home runs and 973 RBIs , but has started to see his production drop off. Last year with the Astros, McCann hit .212 with seven home runs and 23 RBIs in 63 games played.

The Braves were able to make the playoffs last season with a 90-72 record. As the NL East representative in the playoffs, Atlanta lost to the Dodgers in the NLDS. With these two signings, they are clearly make a run at the World Series.
