Since its release in February 2019, Apex Legends has become one of the most popular battle royales in the world. Over the past three years, viewership on Twitch steadily increased including viewership for Apex Legends esports. Last weekend, the official PlayApex channel reached 200,000 viewers during the ALGS Championship and is looking to build on their success.

The $2 million LAN tournament where DarkZero won back-to-back titles peaked at 632,000 concurrent viewers, slightly less than the 676k from the Spilt 2 Playoffs in Stockholm. The Championship eclipsed Split 2 in total hours watched with 11.2 million compared to 9.6 million according to Escharts. Fans also engaged with events, sparking a lot of hype and conversation. A live audience returned to Apex Legends esports since 2019 when thousands came support their favorite teams at the Championship in Raleigh. Those who could not attend in person made their excitement known on Twitter.

Global head of gaming content for Twitter Rishi Chadha posted that Apex Legends was the second most talked about esport in the first half of 2022. It ranks up alongside long-standing games like League of Legends, 2nd only to the Brazilian League of Legends league. Well-known Apex Legends team Crazy Raccoon also ranked in Chadha’s most talked about organizations. The amount of conservation and popularity is a good sign for the title.

After the hype from the Championship and growing fan support, Respawn announced that ALGS Year 3 is coming. The future of Apex Legends esports looks promising. They will look to build on their success with new content in Season 14 and new Apex Legends Mobile content.
