Aaron Rodgers signs a record-breaking 4-year extension with Packers

Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed a new contract extension today. He is set to make almost $180 million in four years. $103 million of that is fully guaranteed. By the end of the first year, Rodgers will have banked $67 million.

Rodgers new contract is huge. Ian Rapoport, the NFL insider, gives all the details about Rodgers new contract in his latest tweet.

After the added bonuses, Rodgers new contract is the biggest in NFL history. This more than likely ties the quarterback to Green Bay for the rest of his career.

New contracts in the last few years, like Derek Carr’s five-year $125 million, Mathew Stafford’s five-year $135 million, Matt Ryan’s five-year $150 million and Kirk Cousins’ three-year $84 million, have perfectly paved the way for Rodgers contract extension.

Rodgers is more than deserving of his $180 million contract than most people believe; he holds multiple different NFL records and continuously shows viewers why he is the most accurate quarterback in the game today. After only three years as the starting quarterback, he won a Super Bowl Ring. Above all, not one of the highest paid quarterbacks mentioned above have won a super bowl.

The two time MVP broke his collarbone in week six last season against the Minnesota Vikings. Rodgers was unable to play the rest of 2017. Rodgers broke his collarbone once before during the 2013 season and missed the last six games of the season.

In 2014 Rodgers had an outstanding come-back season throwing almost 4,400 yards for 38 touchdown passes and a 65.6 completion percentage. To top it all off, he won the NFL MVP award. Coming back this season, Rodgers plans to do that again. With his new superstar tight end Jimmy Graham and break out star wide receiver Devante Adams, he has a has a high chance of repeating his past.

The Green Bay Packers begin their season as the first Sunday night game at Lambeau Field vs the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers will make his return and play his full game being fully healthy since week six of last season.
