The 2019 NFL Draft is coming up, which means that The Game Haus will be doing draft profiles for every team. Each NFL team will be looked at heading into this year’s draft including what their needs are and who they could be targeting. The Chicago Bears will be the 32nd team evaluated.

Summary

Chicago finished with a 12-4 record in the regular season and won the NFC North in head coach Matt Nagy’s first season. They were then bounced in the Wildcard Round by the Philadelphia Eagles, but there is excitement heading into the 2019 NFL season.

The offense ranked sixth in the league averaging 26.3 points per game. The passing offense was 23rd in the league, with quarterback Mitch Trubisky leading the way by throwing for 3,223 yards and 24 touchdowns. Allen Robinson was the leading receiver with 754 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen were a good combo in the backfield that helped the Bears average 121.1 rushing yards per game. The offensive line played solidly to help get the most out of the offense. Jordan Howard was traded to the Eagles, but Mike Davis was signed to replace him in the backfield.

Chicago’s defense was the best in the league, allowing 17.7 points per game. Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman were great along the three-man defensive front. They had a good pair of outside linebackers in Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd. Mack led the team with 12.5 sacks. The inside linebackers were also quality starters in Danny Trevathan and Roquan Smith, who had an impressive rookie year. They had solid corners in Prince Amukamara and Kendall Fuller. Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos were good safeties for the team. HaHa Clinton-Dix was signed to replace Amos, who signed with the Packers in free agency.

Third Round (one pick): No. 87

Fourth Round (one pick): No. 126

Fifth Round (one pick): No. 162

Seventh Round (two picks): No. 222, No. 238

Team Needs

Wide Receiver- Robinson is a solid receiver and Anthony Miller has shown flashes, but the Bears need to continue to surround Trubisky with good targets.

Edge Rusher- Mack and Floyd are great, but they could use another pass rusher to make the defense even better.

Cornerback- Amukamara and Fuller are good corners, but they need some quality ones behind them.

Kicker- The team has already been on the lookout for better kickers, but they may need to take one late in the draft to correct their problems.

2019 NFL Draft Targets

Third Round:

Pick No. 87: Sean Bunting, Cornerback, Central Michigan

Chicago’s defense will be even harder to score on if they can limit the number of mismatches opponents can get in the slot. Bunting can start off in the slot and move outside after Amukamara or Fuller leave. He may have played against lesser competition in the MAC, but has the physical tools to develop into a solid corner in the NFL.
