The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2024 Rose Bowl.
Alabama Crimson Tide Draft Prospects
Dallas Turner, EDGE
Turner signed with Alabama in 2021 and immediately created an impact. In his career, he has registered 117 total tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss and 21.5 sacks. This season, he has 50 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
He has solid size for an NFL edge rusher at 6-foot-4 and 251 pounds. Turner has great athleticism and burst, which helps him win against premier offensive tackles. He can play too aggressively and pick up too many penalties, but he has the chance to be an elite pass rusher at the next level.
Projected Draft Range: Top 10 Pick
McKinstry also joined Alabama in 2021 and was a contributor earlier on in his time at Alabama. In his career, he has tallied 88 total tackles, 23 passes defended and two interceptions. This season, McKinstry has 27 total tackles and seven passes defended.
At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, McKinstry has solid size for the cornerback position. He can be grabby, but he has good route-recognition and mirroring abilities. McKinstry was a projected first round pick to start the season and has done enough to stay at that value.
Projected Draft Range: 1st Round Pick
Other Draft Prospects: OT JC Latham (1st), CB Terrion Arnold (1st), EDGE Chris Braswell (2nd-3rd), WR Jermaine Burton (3rd-5th), S Malachi Moore (3rd-5th), DL Justin Eboigbe (4th-6th), LB Deonte Lawson (5th-7th), RB Jase McClellan (6th-UFA), DL Tim Smith (6th-UFA), DL Damon Payne (UFA), TE CJ Dippre (UFA), IOL Seth McLaughlin (UFA), K Will Reichard (UFA)
Michigan Wolverines Draft Prospects
J.J. McCarthy, QB
McCarthy signed with Michigan in 2021 and played sparingly his first season before taking over the job full-time. In his career, he has passed for 5,865 yards, 46 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on 68.1 percent completion. This season, he has 2,630 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions on 74.2 percent completion.
He has decent size for an NFL quarterback at 6-foot-3 and 202 pounds. McCarthy has some nice arm talent to make NFL-level throws, but hasn’t been asked to do too much during his college career. In this game, it will be interesting to see how he reacts when he has to make big time throws.
Projected Draft Range: 1st Round Pick-2nd Round Pick
Kris Jenkins, DL
Jenkins signed with Michigan in 2020 and redshirted before jumping into the action starting in 2021. In his career, he has 109 total tackles, 3.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss. This season he has racked up 33 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
At 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, Jenkins has solid size for an interior defensive lineman. He doesn’t make too many plays, but Jenkins is disruptive and frees up others to get to the ball. Jenkins has good strength and can develop into a good NFL player.
Projected Draft Range: 1st Round Pick-2nd Round Pick
*IOL Zak Zinter is injured and will not play in this game. He is a projected day two pick.
Other Draft Prospects: RB Blake Corum (2nd-4th), S Rod Moore (3rd-5th), RB Donovan Edwards (3rd-5th), WR Roman Wilson (4th-6th), LB Junior Colson (4th-6th), S Mike Sainristill (4th-6th), IOL Drake Nugent (5th-7th), EDGE Jaylen Harrell (6th-UFA), IOL Ladarius Henderson (6th-UFA), LB Michael Barrett (6th-UFA), WR Cornelius Johnson (UFA), S Makari Paige (UFA), TE AJ Barner (UFA), EDGE Josiah Stewart (UFA), IOL Karson Barnhart (UFA)
