Week 2 was a whirlwind for Shock fans, as they tasted the bitterness of defeat at the hands of the surging Houston Outlaws. But, the boys in orange quickly tightened things up against Seoul, which ought to give fans confidence going into a, well, less than intimidating Week 3.
Week 2 Review
Shock 2-3 Outlaws
The Shock has found its kryptonite and its none other than their former player, Dante “Danteh” Cruz. Danteh’s Sombra was, literally, lights out for the Outlaws in this series. It showed that the Shock need to work on their play against Sombra in future matches and has clearly motivated the Shock players to never let it happen again.
Overall, this was a game that they can afford to drop but those are beginning to run in short supply.
Shock 4-0 Dynasty
This game was on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. The Shock looked like their golden selves in the Router Rumble, dismantling a Seoul team that, strangely, opted to play right into the Shock’s hands. The Dynasty, having just witnessed the success Houston found with Sombra, never once played Min-hyuk “Michelle” Choi on the hacker. They made switches at halftime, sure, but it seems that they were not the switches that needed to be made. This lapse opened the door for the Shock to take full advantage and eventually claim the series in convincing 4-0 fashion.

Week 3 Preview
Boston Uprising (7-11)
Boston is a team that has its fans slamming their desks at home, not too different from their main tank. None the less, the Shock still need to come into this one prepared to face a dangerous and capable Sombra player in Richard “rCk” Kanerva. If Boston watches some Danteh film and comes prepared, the Shock will need to respond better than they did against the Outlaws.
But, all in all, don’t expect this one to be a close one. Boston are looking as inconsistent as ever and the Shock seem determined not to falter to another lower-tier team.
Prediction: Shock wins 3-1
Florida Mayhem (1-15)
The Mayhem are making moves. This week, they brought in three new players as well as three new coaches to help turn the team around. If these new players can get filled into the lineup quickly, the Shock may have a hard time scouting this week. However, they would need to have quite the immediate impact to turn the Mayhem into a team that can contend with the best. This series should not be close but, in the Overwatch League, anything can happen. *glares at Houston*
Prediction: Shock wins 4-0
Player to Watch: Dong-jun “Rascal” Kim
So much of shutting down a good Sombra player is having a Brigitte that has eyes on the back of her head. For the Shock, they have one of the league’s best in Rascal, who just needs to adjust to what teams are beginning to throw at the Shock. If he can elevate his play and shut down hacks and EMP’s, the Shock should fare much better, moving forward.
