9. Mets: Yoenis Cespedes (.273 BA, 15 HR, 37 RBI, 31 runs scored)
I don’t think that there were ever any questions about Yoenis Cespedes being a great hitter. He was definitely the one everybody looked to at the beginning of the season, on a Mets roster that otherwise looked pretty average at the plate. The Mets have broken that early classification of mediocrity in a couple of categories, most notably the long ball. At first Neil Walker was the surprise on the Mets team, coming out and slugging homer after homer, but while his power streak seems to be dwindling, Cespedes is continuing to drive ’em deep. He’s currently tied for fourth in the MLB with 15 home runs. A lot of people talk about Bryce Harper, unquestionably a strong player, but Cespedes is currently beating Harper in a lot of categories. He’s been a real spark plug for this team’s offense, which is still fairly weak runs-wise despite the home runs. He’s leading a Mets team that is currently seeing their first and second men in the rotation struggling to return to form. Once they’re back at 100%, Cespedes and the rest of this Mets will see their jobs get a lot easier.

Daniel Murphy totally deserves this No. 1 slot. What a wrecking ball! RBIs all over. If only Harper was batting well…
