- Tennessee Titans- Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
The Titans would prefer to take a defensive player, but would settle for Tunsil if they don’t find any takers to trade down. He would help protect Marcus Mariota, because the Titans allowed the most sacks in the NFL last season. Getting protection for Mariota is a priority for the Titans this offseason. Tunsil is as responsible as anyone for the success at Ole Miss the past few years. He did miss seven games this season due to a suspension for receiving extra benefits.
- Cleveland Browns- Jared Goff, QB, Cal
Cleveland is going to try to move on from Johnny Manziel and Josh McCown certainly isn’t the answer. Goff has been atop draft boards all year and is the best quarterback prospect. He has good arm strength and accuracy. Goff needs to improve his footwork in the pocket and polish his decision-making skills, but he is the most pro-ready quarterback.
- San Diego Chargers- Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
The Chargers only had 32 sacks last year and need to improve their pass rush. Bosa has the potential to be versatile on the defensive line or as an outside linebacker. He only had 5 sacks this season at Ohio State, but was suspended for the opener against Virginia Tech and was double and triple teamed.
- Dallas Cowboys- Robert Nkemdiche, DT/DE, Ole Miss
Robert Nkemdiche was arrested and suspended for the Sugar Bowl for his use of synthetic marijuana and for falling out of a window. So there have been character concerns raised about him. This makes him a perfect fit for the Cowboys. Jerry Jones has been known to overlook character in players so that his team can win. Dallas also won’t have Greg Hardy next year and need to generate more of a pass rush.
- Jacksonville Jaguars- Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida
The Jaguars have one of the worst pass defenses in the league. The rumors say they prefer a pass rusher, but I think they will prefer secondary help when the draft gets nearer. They get Dante Fowler back from injury (he missed his rookie season due to a torn ACL) to help the defensive line, so they may be persuaded to take a defensive back. Hargreaves is one of the best shutdown corners in the draft class and went to Florida, which is always something the Jaguars look for.
- Baltimore Ravens- Jalen Ramsey, CB/S, Florida State
Ramsey has played corner and safety in college and has the ability to do both in the pros. The Ravens were absolutely terrible against the pass and need to upgrade the secondary by any means necessary. Corner Jimmy Smith and safety Matt Elam are solid, but the rest of the players in the secondary did not play well and the Ravens need Ramsey to be successful.
- San Francisco 49ers- Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
The 49ers need a quarterback unless Chip Kelly decides to go with Colin Kaepernick . Kelly has shown that he wants to prove that his system wins games, not the players in the system. Wentz is very talented and has shot up draft boards, but is from North Dakota State, an FCS school, and has a lot to prove. If Wentz succeeds in the NFL, Kelly can take the credit, which is all he really wants anyways.
8.Miami Dolphins- Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
Myles Jack had a season ending injury at UCLA this year, but is an elite athlete and should be able to recover fully. Jack was athletic enough to play both ways in college, which means he will fit in with the other NFL athletes. The Dolphins need help at linebacker to improve an underachieving season defensively.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- DeForest Buckner, DE/DT, Oregon
Buckner can play any position on the defensive line, which will help the Buccaneeers, who need a better pass rush. This pick will also help provide depth on the defensive line. Buckner finished his season at Oregon with at least half a sack in the last seven games of the season.
- New York Giants- Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
The Giants need to improve at every level of the defense. They only had 23 sacks so need to focus on a pass rush first. Ogbah had 15 sacks, but is also decent against the run.
- Chicago Bears- Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
Jaylon Smith has the same potential as Myles Jack, making this a great linebacker class. Smith was a tackling machine at Notre Dame. He is also very athletic like Jack. The Bears could use help at linebacker making this a great pick.
- New Orleans Saints- A’Shawn Robinson, DT/DE, Alabama
Robinson was really good at stopping the run at Alabama and has great gap integrity. The Saints had one of the worst defenses in the league and need help everywhere so fixing the rush defense is a good start.
- Philadelphia Eagles- Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
The Eagles need a quarterback seeing that Sam Bradford didn’t play well this season. Lynch was at the top of draft boards earlier this season, but had some trouble dealing with pressure in the pocket. He is tall with a strong arm, but his accuracy is average.
- Oakland Raiders- Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
The Raiders don’t really need that much this offseason other than for their young players to continue to develop. Picking Stanley would help protect Derek Carr, who the Raiders need. Stanley would have been a first round pick last year, but decided to go back to Notre Dame for his senior season and had a fantastic year. He is great at both run and pass blocking and will help the young skill position players to develop.
- Los Angeles Rams- Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
The Rams need a quarterback, but will need to trade up in order to get one. If they can’t they will have to settle for getting some offensive weapons. Treadwell is the top receiver in the class and has great hands and the quickness to get open at the pro level.
- Detroit Lions- Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
The Lions still need inside help after losing Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairly last season. Billings is very quick off of the ball and is great at stopping the run because of his gap integrity. He is a good pass rusher, but has room for improvement.
- Atlanta Falcons- Leonard Floyd, DE/OLB, Georgia
Atlanta had a league low 19 sacks last season. They need to improve the pass rush and can do so by selecting Floyd. Floyd is a great pass rusher, but also has the ability to drop back and cover pretty well.
- Indianapolis Colts- Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama
Ragland is a great value at this part of the first round because of his ability to help stop the run. The Colts are another team that need help all over the field defensively. Ragland will man the middle of the defense for the Colts.
- Buffalo Bills- Vernon Butler, DT, Louisiana Tech
The Bills didn’t have much of a pass rush last season. That can’t sit well with Rex Ryan and he will want to upgrade the pass rush. Butler was impressive at the Senior Bowl and showed the ability to beat his man consistently while pass rushing.
- New York Jets- Hunter Henry, TE, Arkansas
The Jets need one more piece on offense to help out Ryan Fitzpatrick. Their tight ends haven’t been great targets, so taking one here could help improve their offense. This is a pretty weak tight end class, but taking Henry here isn’t too much of a reach.
- Washington Redskins- Su’a Cravens, S/LB, USC
Cravens showed the ability to play both safety and linebacker at USC. He will probably find a home at linebacker in the NFL. The Redskins need help at linebacker and if he doesn’t pan out for them there he can always try out safety.
- Houston Texans- Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
Houston needs a running back because Arian Foster gets injured every season. Elliot can carry the load for the Texans and is a first round talent.
- Minnesota Vikings- Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State
The Vikings gave up too many sacks, especially for a team that tries to run the ball primarily. Teddy Bridgewater was sacked 44 times this season. Jack Conklin can play tackle or guard in the NFL and is good in pass protection.
- Cincinnati Bengals- Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama
The Bengals need to find a replacement for Domata Peko. He continues to get worse every season and the Bengals do nothing about it. Reed can fill in from day one and start in the trenches.
- Pittsburgh Steelers- Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
The Steelers desperately need to upgrade their entire secondary. Fuller had a season ending injury, but is talented enough to be a top ten pick. This means that the Steelers will be smart enough to take him and get an instant starter.
- Seattle Seahawks- Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State
The Seahawks don’t have too many needs. Thomas is a good receiver, but had a tendency to disappear at times this season. Russell Wilson will get the most out of Thomas.
- Green Bay Packers- Scooby Wright, ILB, Arizona
The Packers are moving Clay Matthews back to outside linebacker where he belongs. They will need an inside linebacker to take over. Wright missed most of the season with a knee injury, but was the best linebacker in the country in 2014.
- Kansas City Chiefs- Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State
Decker would be an upgrade over Eric Fisher at tackle, but could play guard if he was needed to. He has been part of the reason Ezekiel Elliot has been so successful with his tremendous run blocking, but he is also a decent pass blocker. The Chiefs need to make sure Alex Smith gets sacked less as he gets older.
- Arizona Cardinals- Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State
The Cardinals need to improve their defense, as their offense was outstanding in 2015. Lee is a versatile linebacker that is really good in coverage.
- Denver Broncos- Adolphus Washington, DT, Ohio State
Washington came into Ohio State as a defensive end, so his athletic ability at the defensive tackle position is tremendous. He had a good senior bowl paired with a nice season. The Broncos need to bolster the defensive line depth.
- Carolina Panthers- Makenzie Alexander, CB, Clemson
The Panthers have a great defense, but could use someone to pair with Josh Norman. Alexander would be a steal and the Panthers could potentially have two shut down corners on the team.
